Rethink, Reflect, Reexamine: Strengthening Global Procurement Operating Models

By March 29, 2023August 10th, 2023No Comments

Years of supply chain disruptions have caused global organizations to rethink the role of procurement – and procurement teams are doing some reflecting of their own. Extended lead times are slowly returning to normal, creating a moment when procurement leaders can re-examine their operating models in preparation for the next potential crisis.

Each multinational organization has a unique combination of matrixed, centralized, decentralized, and center-led procurement capabilities. New ways of working, emerging technologies, remote teaming, and new success metrics are all being layered on top. Do lingering inefficiencies and opportunities to accelerate justify changing procurement’s global operating models – or is this just change for change’s sake?

In this AOP Live session, Art of Procurement’s Philip Ideson and Kelly Barner were joined by Jake Taylor, ProcureAbility’s Senior Director of Advisory. He provided his view on how leading procurement organizations are realigning themselves with the business and sharing real world case studies.

Jake also answered live questions about global procurement operating models, covering topics such as:

  • The pros and cons of various procurement operating models
  • Cultural and legal implications of cross-border teaming that all procurement organizations should know about
  • Change management considerations that will put operating model adjustments into context
  • Actionable insights that will help you strategically address updates to your procurement operating model
