Introducing Procurement, Inc. – This Month in Procurement

By February 3, 2020June 1st, 2020No Comments

In this episode, AOP Host Philip Ideson and Kelly Barner (General Manager of AOP and Owner of Buyers Meeting Point) discuss their major take-aways from January’s podcast interviews and announce the official launch of Procurement, Inc., the new Art of Procurement framework for repositioning procurement as a strategic services business.

In January, we were joined by Remko Van Hoek, ao-author of Integrating Blockchain into Supply Chain Management: A Toolkit for Practical Application, and Sundar Kamak, Ivalua’s Global Head of Manufacturing Solutions. We also ran the first AOP Special Startup Series, featuring nine interviews with some of the most compelling – and potentially disruptive – procurement solutions on the market today.

For our monthly discussion topic, we introduced the logic behind the new Procurement, Inc. framework and the updated Art of Procurement website. Procurement, Inc., which you can read more about in this 4-part whitepaper series, combines the values of customer centricity, connectivity, creativity and commercial focus with entrepreneurial ideas about investor value to align procurement performance with corporate objectives.

Finally, a look ahead to the podcast schedule for February:

  • February 10: Joe Yacura, the featured guest in our late November AOP Live session, will share his perspective on the challenge of supply chain data quality, based in part on his research with North Carolina State University.
  • February 17: Kate Vitasek, founder of the Vested model and author of a series of books by the same name, will join us to talk about the importance of having someone “Standing Neutral”, a trusted neutral expert selected by the parties at the beginning of their relationship who is readily available to settle disputes and mediate difficult topics.
  • February 24: Evert Carson, VP of Global Procurement at Cimpress, will share his first-hand experience positioning his team as a strategic services business (within a business). Since Cimpress is made up of a number of very independent brands, each of which has a value proposition based on mass customization, each individual company across the group has very different needs from procurement – and Evert and his team much identify and meet each one.
