Welcome to the latest Sourcing Industry Landscape podcast, hosted by Dawn Tiura.
Alan Day’s inspiration to found State of Flux was due to a gap in the implementation of sourcing processes post-deal.
Having worked in procurement and supply chain for over 20 years, Alan utilized industry best practices to help companies optimize their strategic sourcing goals post-deal through contract management, supplier relationship management, and sustainability.
Alan shares his insight into how procurement and CPOs can take initiative to move beyond back-office administrative roles, such as buying and RFP management (which he says will soon be automated) to working with the CEO to determine strategic goals of the business that are led by procurement.
- Procurement’s days as a back-office, administrative function are coming to an end with the rise of automation.
- Today, procurement is uniquely positioned to be a better partner to the business with increased visibility into spend, data analytics and supplier relationships to drive strategic decision-making that is data-driven.
- To drive that strategic change and sell procurement’s value, procurement professionals must fine-tune their selling skills to get the buy-in from business stakeholders.
