Introducing AOP Live – Establishing Your Procurement AI Game Plan

Today we’re launching a new webinar series: AOP Live, where you drive the conversation and we ditch the slides!

AOP Live was born out of my frustration with the traditional webinar format; 60-minutes of highly produced, slide-driven content that too often felt like I was being talked at, rather than engaged with. The problem wasn’t the speakers or the topics – there are lots of amazing insights shared in webinars every single day. But the format doesn’t lend itself well to a two-way conversation between the presenter and participants. Enter AOP Live!

AOP Live sessions allow procurement professionals and subject matter experts to explore a specific topic in real time. Unlike traditional pre-recorded podcasts and canned webinars, they are highly dynamic, and are designed to facilitate interaction between all participants before, during and after the session.

Through AOP Live, we bring the Art of Procurement podcast format to a webinar, and position you as my co-hosts! We encourage all registrants to ask questions in advance as well as during the session itself. Those questions (along with the other input we receive) will become part of a post-event download available to everyone who attended. This isn’t a webinar for you to register and not show up for.  Only those who attend receive the download. Why? Because it’s all about engagement.

Our first AOP Live session will take place on Thursday, February 14th at 1pm US Eastern Time.

Regular Art of Procurement listeners will know that I am passionate about separating the digitization hype from reality and finding pragmatic ways to leverage technological advances. This is the theme of February’s AOP Live, applied to AI.

For all the ‘buzz’ about AI, it is really just an approach that brings together two elements that procurement is very familiar with: information and analytics. Add business objectives to the mix, and you are poised to benefit from what we think of as artificial intelligence.

When we approach AI as technology only, or even as technology first, it not only makes it seem too abstract to be implemented, it also ignores the huge role that strategic thinkers and business leaders must play in its application. Without the definition and articulation of data-driven business objectives, even the smartest machine is just holding information and waiting for a query to be submitted.

In this AOP Live session, I will chat with procurement AI expert and Sievo co-founder Sammeli Sammalkorpi. We will talk about how to bring AI back to earth and put a game plan in place:

  • From what to why – understanding your business case for AI
  • Learning from others – find case studies that are relevant to your business
  • Evaluate pilot-qualified providers in a way that balances the traditional sourcing process and the unique needs of this emerging category

I’ll have some questions prepared, but the direction of our conversation will come from YOU!
