SIG The Sourcing Industry Landscape

Innovations in Sourcing w/ VSP Global & GEP

Welcome to a special edition of the Sourcing Industry Landscape podcast, hosted by Dawn Tiura. This episode highlights team finalists for Sourcing Industry Group’s (SIG) Future of Sourcing Awards in the Innovations in Sourcing category.

The teams nominated for the Innovations in Sourcing category have demonstrated excellence in their field and represent the best example of innovation, transformation and/or leadership in sourcing.

About the Teams:

  • VSP Global – VSP Global’s Corporate Procurement and Travel division was tasked with taking an aggregated view of purchasing opportunities and drive better business outcomes. The group developed the Spend It Like Its Yours (SILIY) campaign that included an intensive change management approach utilizing a mascot, campus signage, video vignettes and face-to-face meetings across all levels of business partners. The group hired talent into the team and invested in training and development across all facets of procurement; and invested in the tech stack to ensure our P2P operations, Spend Analytics and Contracts Management solutions enabled this transformation. Operating without a mandate, the team focused on creating value for our customers and driving early engagement on procurement needs.
  • GEP – The client, a globally recognized public research university in the U.S., had to rethink its spend and sourcing strategy in the wake of the state reducing its funding. There were other compelling factors, namely, low RFx visibility, absence of spend management processes, lack of visibility into supplier performance and contract compliance, and no consolidated view of spend. Learn how GEP partnered with the client to drive a digital procurement transformation program, which, among other things, was aimed at improving spend visibility and compliance, and innovating sourcing.
