Happy Saturday!
With the amount of procurement related content published this week, I am surprised that any actual work was completed! I contributed to this with a long form post based on personal experiences during my career – 5 Steps to Break Free from a Stalled Procurement Career.
This week, I have four articles to share:
- Why I Quit Often. I love this article, from Nicholas Ammaturo of Coach on a couple of different levels. First, it speaks to advice I often give to those who ask me for career help – that if you are good at what you do, do not stay in a job which you do not enjoy or feel motivated by, because you have options. Second, from an employer perspective, retaining your best people is about creating an environment around which they are challenged, appreciated and rewarded.
- When You Focus on Getting the Best Deal Than Developing the Best Relationship. Take this, from Adrian Gonzalez of Adelante SCM, as a cautionary tale of what happens when you are penny wise and pound foolish.
- Has Procurement Got It’s KPI’s Right?. Bertrand Maltaverne of POOL4TOOL explores the results of a Procurement KPI survey, and finds that procurement still operates in too much of a silo.
- SRM and the Importance of Teamwork. Ex-CPO and SRM Expert David Atkinson of Four Pillars explains why cross-functional teamwork is key to ensuring that your investment in SRM returns more than a just a modest – if any – return on investment.
Have a great weekend!
